We’re excited to debut this new column, Drawn Out : The Doodled Interview, with guest Bridget Marzo, author/illustrator of Tiz and Ott’s Big Draw (Tate Publishing). Like Harold, Tiz (a cat) and Ott (a donkey) have a magical crayon and brush, allowing them to create their colorful doodling adventures.
I love how they express themselves with a crayon and brush; each create different lines that somehow fit their characters. Tiz is a natural leader and Ott’s a bit more relaxed (read: lazy) with his doodling (but that’s ok!) I also adore their endpapers — a beautiful example of mark-making.
Drawn Out : with Bridget Marzo
1. Hi Bridget! What do you recall drawing when you were little?
2. What did you want to be when you grew up?
3. What do you think is Tiz’s favorite thing to draw?
4. What is Ott’s favorite thing to do besides painting?
5. Can you tease us where Tiz & Ott might venture next?
Uh-oh! Hope Tiz and Ott won’t be hanging out without us!
Thanks for being our first Drawn Out guest, Bridget! Don’t forget to check out how to draw Tiz and Ott with Bridget here.
