Happy Year of the Tiger

happy new year

Happy Year of the Tiger 2022! If you celebrate Lunar New Year, you’ve probably heard that the Chinese horoscope animal this year is the gorgeous orange cat – it’s the perfect excuse for us to draw tigers!

We’ve been drawing tigers on instagram, with special guest Melani Grube, and with artist Dana Constable. (You can see the replays here, and here.) If you draw tigers too, don’t forget to show us and tag #kidcandoodle so we can see them.

BTW, am I the only one who hears Survivor’s Rocky theme song when I think of the word “tiger” ?  (In my head, I’m hearing “it’s the YEAR of the tiger; dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dunnnnn”… )

Do you celebrate Lunar New Year? Many Asian countries do. Lunar New Year is a great time to exchange red envelopes, watch lion dances, and eat yummy lucky foods, such as egg rolls or long noodles. For more information about Lunar New Year, or how you can celebrate the Year of the Tiger, check this out.

You can also watch Totes the Dog (aka Rosanne Kang Jovanovski) and me celebrating Lunar New Year together by doodling on cookies.
